Fiona Spencer Counselling Psychology Practice.

Appointments and fees for Counselling Psychology and Supervision services.

This page gives details about the process of referral, when appointments are available, the costs, and the options if you are covered by private health insurance or employee assistance.

Most clients reach me by self-referral, or at the suggestion of a GP, other healthcare professional or through employee assistance.

You are welcome to have an initial free telephone consultation to help you in deciding whether you wish to arrange a full appointment.

Appointments are available Monday to Thursday, hours by arrangement, including evening appointments at 6 pm and 8 pm.

Once an appointment has been made I will write by email to confirm and provide directions to my practice in Dorking.

I allow one hour for the initial assessment appointment.

You are not committed beyond that one appointment so that you can gauge whether you have found the right therapist for you.

After that sessions run for 50 minutes, usually at the same time on either a weekly or fortnightly basis, but this can be negotiated depending upon your needs.

The number of sessions and therapeutic approach will be agreed between us as we establish an understanding of your difficulties and goals.

This may be 6-12 sessions for a specific life-event related problem, or to enhance skills in dealing with emotional or behavioural symptoms, or it may spread over several months and/or be open-ended (subject to regular reviews), for deeper-seated issues, personality problems, or for those wishing to take a more exploratory approach to personal growth and development.

My fees are £80 per session. I am open to negotiation with those on low incomes so that no one need be precluded from therapy for financial reasons.

Payments are to be made by bank transfer before or within 48 hours of a session.

I am registered with private health insurers (Bupa, Aviva, AXA-PPP) from whom you may be able to seek reimbursement.

Please check the specific wording of your policy because some require referral by a Psychiatrist, limit the number of funded sessions, or apply excesses.

Finding the right fit of therapist.

It is important to find someone with whom you feel comfortable as well as confident in their experience and ability to help you. I therefore encourage you to make contact by phone 07917 772333 to learn more about what I can offer. There is no charge for that initial conversation.

If I am not able to help I may well be able to suggest alternative resources or potential therapists.
